Summary of what you will need to do

  1. Select project from list offered
  2. Contact primary supervisor of selected project to discuss your interests
  3. Complete online application form by closing date - Tuesday 12 May 2026 at 12 noon BST.
  4. Complete anonymous demography form
  5. Send supporting documents to Edinburgh Infectious Diseases by email (eid@ed.ac.uk)
  6. Ensure referees complete reference form by closing date 

Note:  we can accept only one application per candidate.


Eligibility

The fellowships are open to students who are eligible for home fees at the University of Edinburgh - i.e. you must be a UK national, or have settled status, and have been "ordinarily resident" in the UK for the three years immediately before the start of the fellowship.  

Other international applicants are not eligibie for these fellowships.

Supporting documents required

Please submit your supporting documents via email by the closing date - Tuesday 12 May 2026 at 12 noon BST.

  1. Standard Curriculum vitae
  2. Academic transcripts of first degree courses (and second degree if applicable) - all transcripts should be provided in English - an official translation should be provided if necessary.
  3. Copies of degree certificates with final classification - an official translation should be provided if necessary

Please note - previous applicants do not need to resubmit documents, unless there are signficant updates about which you wish to make us aware.


References

All applicants should give the names of two academic referees on their application form. 

It is the applicant's responsibility to contact each of their referees and ask them to complete and submit the reference form that is available at the link below.

The completed reference forms must be received by Tuesday 12 May at 12 noon BST.

Please note - previous applicants do not need to ask referees to resubmit references.  We will be able to use information previously receieved.

Arrangements for candidate interviews

Interviews will be held on Monday 29 June 2026.  

It is likely that the interviews will be online - further details will be available nearer the time.
