Many congratulations to Professor Andrew Rambaut in the School of Biological Sciences who was awarded the 2016 Chancellor's Research Award. Andrew is a member of Edinburgh Infectious Diseases based in the Institute of Evolutionary Biology, School of Biological Sciences at Kings Buildings. His research concerns the evolution of emerging human viral pathogens, in particular, fast evolving RNA viruses that have been sampled through time. Over the past couple of years he has applied powerful new techniques to help understand the recent Ebloa outbreak in West Africa and the emergence of the new Middle East respiratory syndrome coronovirus.
