Edinburgh Infectious Diseases is the network of infectious disease researchers and clinicians across Edinburgh. Network of 250 infectious diseases research groups Edinburgh Infectious Diseases connects over 1200 Scientists in 250 research groups, actively working in infectious disease research across the city of Edinburgh.Researchers address topics as diverse as biomarkers of viral infection, delivery of healthcare in unstable settings, antimicrobial resistance, neglected tropical diseases and pandemics science taking a whole-of-society approach. Aims of Edinburgh Infectious Diseases To represent the strengths of infectious disease science in Edinburgh through our symposia, workshops, outreach activity and internet profile;To maintain a strategic overview of infectious disease research in Edinburgh, to maximise synergy between established activities and promote new avenues for investigation;To foster infectious disease teaching and training at all levels within the University, including the development of new postgraduate initiatives. Our members come from an array of different backgrounds in basic, human clinical and veterinary science, working as lab scientistts, hospital consultants, social scientists, and policy advocates.The network is run from the University of Edinburgh, and includes other Edinburgh organisations such as Moredun Research Institute, NHS Lothian, in addition to Heriot Watt, Edinburgh Napier and Queen Margaret Universities. Edinburgh Infectious Diseases researchers have established an array of international collaborations, including numerous low and middle income countries, tackling diseases of global health concern where the impacts are felt most. The Network links members via e-communications, topic-focused workshops, and larger symposia, generating an environment where new partnerships can be forged, developed and supported.
