Molecular dissection of Influenza A virus - Paul Digard

The Digard lab at the Roslin Institute is interested in the viral factors controlling replication and spread of influenza A virus.

Paul Digard's laboratory is  primarily interested in the molecular and cellular biology influenza virus replication, using this information to understand the basis of virus pathogenesis and host range, as well as for translational studies on antiviral drug development and virus control measures.

In recent years, the group has focused on three main areas:

  1. identification of cellular pathways and viral elements involved in genome trafficking and virus assembly
  2. function of the viral RNA synthesis machinery and its role in setting host range
  3. identification of  novel virus polypeptides, at least three of which affect virus pathogenicity.
