December 2025: The award recognises Clark's contributions to studies on infectious diseases pathogenesis, clinical endotypes and host-based therapies. The awards aim to foster further work at a top scientific level. These prestigious awards from the European Society for Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Disease recognise research excellence for a scientist working on infection who is typically three to eight years post PhD award. Clark Russell carried out his PhD with Ross Fitzgerald (Roslin Institute) and David Dockell (Centre for Inflammation Research). He is now an NES/CSO Postdoctoral Clinical Lecturer and speciality registrar in Infectious Diseases and Microbiology, based in the Institute for Regeneration and Repair. His current work explores the regulation of macrophage antibacterial defence, with a focus on Staphylococcus aureus.Many congratulations!
